Contributing Your Observations of the Coast

The guides are updated periodically. The information for these updates is contributed by the users. This is the manner in which the guides have functioned since their inception in the 1960s. Your help in maintaining the guides will be greatly appreciated by those who sail these shores in the future, as you have benefited by those who have sailed there before you.

Please use the update form when sending contributions. It is the yellow page in each guide entitled "Up Date and New Harbor Form" which follows the "Preface." Please note corrections, changes, confirmation of existing entries and new harbors. Include, not only your observations of the harbor approaches and anchorages, but any useful information you may have gleaned relating to gear, supplies, ships stores, preparations, communications, weather forecasting facilities and suggested readings; or any other pertinent information.

The next edition of both guides will contain not only narrative and small sketches of harbors, but will also include color photographs with accompanying harbor sketches - see example below. Combining a harbor sketch with a photograph of that harbor is very effective, particularly when identifying from where the picture was taken (red arrow in example) and where your vessel is moored, when appropriate. Your help in this endeavor is needed and will be greatly appreciated by everyone.

Credit will be given in the appropriate guide to those people whose photographs and/or sketches are used. Sending the photographs and/or sketches to the Editors constitute permission to use them or not at the editor's discretion. The best quality for printing is to send the original slide or negative for our scanning to a CD. Your negatives or slides will be handled with great care and returned promptly. The next best thing is to send a photograph.
