These guides are published by Pilot Press as aids for those who seek the challengers, adventures and rewards of sailing in one of the most beautiful and unspoiled cruising grounds of North America, and who appreciate a few tips from those who have been there before. The guides are contributor driven, thus the information has been collected by the yachtsmen who have been there. It's what they found.

The early explorers relied on each other. Today we rely on each other's contributions to explore and enjoy this phenomenal country. Hopefully those who use these guides receive as much assistance from them as others before you, and that you, like them, will contribute meaningful information for future users. (Please see the "Update Info" page with a request for photos and sketches). Without your continued updating of information, these publications - the longest continuously published cruising guide for Nova Scotia and the only sailing guides to Newfoundland or Labrador - would become useless. New editions of these guides are published every 4-5 years.

This guide was first published in 1956 and has continuously been updated and improved. The current edition is dated March 2005; check the Contents page for this date. Each January look for updates here to the various harbors visited by contributors during the prior summer(s).

The Cruising Guide to Labrador

This guide was first published as part of the Newfoundland Guide in 1956. Since 1983 it has been published as a stand-alone book. The current edition of this guide is dated March 2006; check the Contents page for this date. A Cruising Guide to the Gulf of St. Lawrence

This guide (second edition) is posted here so users can download and print just a section of the guide or the whole book, some 100 pages. If you'd rather purchase the guide already printed similar to the other three guides, contact info@pilot.com for a retail outlet that carries it. Each January look at this site for updates to the various harbors visited by contributors during the prior summer(s).
